All week I’ve been working on cleaning up and sorting the studio space – which is a lot and mentally exhausting for some reason. Sorting each chaotic bit into order and making a place for it is hard somehow, my brain feels like it’s having to do translation work, taxes, or take the worlds hardest test.

I forgot to post a photo of what I’ve been working on! omg..so I’m setting this up to art. It as a mount to film while I draw, a light – well a LOT of light, and plenty of power outlets. The bookcases are sorted, things labelled and put together so I can find them again as some items I don’t use as often as others. Jason and I bought this table around 2012 at IKEA for my art, I think I lived on Randle drive in the Captains House at the time. Going through things, cleaning, it’s so many memories. The rug is from Goodwill and I bought it when we initially moved here in 2010, and it was dirty and old then! haha, now 16 years later it sits quietly, and I still like it. I might like it more now then I did then. At the time I just needed a rug, any rug, and cheap please. That was back when Goodwill was honestly cheap and there wasn’t one built in Warrenton yet so I guess I got this in Beaverton maybe? Idk, I don’t remember but I know it’s quite used.

It makes me sad because when I just watch Youtube videos and consume media I can feel smart, I can feel like I think okay – but the brain damage is apparent when I try to do tasks, no wonder I was trapped in a chair, omg. It’s so hard. I feel like I’ll never get better sometimes.

Jason and I have a lot of fun going out and taking photos on Thursday mornings, which he has off right now. Last week it was raining but yesterday was a pretty day.

I didn’t get much art done at all this week as I’m cleaning the studio and setting it up. I wasn’t on the social media site X very much as it’s a little mentally exhausting for me and I was very busy. The algo and engagement angle means you only get rewarded for virtually living on the app, which is pointless.

That’s a lot
  • Day 1 Fixed the Torker Bicycle! Watched online tutorials and got the chain untangled, degreased, the back tire on, tires aired up and washed. So my old Torker is better than it was – chain no longer slips AND I took it on a 6 mile bike ride. 6,500 steps
  • Day 2 Signed up for ‘Race For a Soldier‘ virtual option that is set for September 13th. 9,000 steps
Race for a Soldier

I sewed up saddle bags for the Torker today so I can take my sketch books, garden supplies or a picnic with me on the bike. I will have to do that a few times with Ian before he goes to Japan.

  • Day 3 Received an email from Zombies, Run! Good timing so I started back on the treadmill with season 11, missions with Zoey, Sam and the gang while wearing a weighted vest (I only run for now) 11,700 steps, walked to garden too – been working with my community garden and put in more strawberries.
  • Cleaned the studio space some more, began to set 1 hour timers, so I could get a break. I found 2-3 hours is about my mental limit. 6,000 steps, I think I could have done more.

Ian came home at 2:30pm and said he had a lead on pig belly, the food not the cat. We hopped in his car and went out to Reed&Hertigs and I bought an 11lb Duroc Pork belly and then came home and cut it all up and bagged it, had almost 30 / 6oz bags or about a months worth of pork. The pork cost me, $70 which is rather high for that cut, although meat prices are at an all time high as is gas. Had insomnia. Began mowing and weed eating. Ouch my back.
  • Walked on treadmill with weighted vest 3 miles. Mowed more. Did a lot of weed eating but my weed eater is broken. Late in day walked with Ian down to the strawberry patch, the Japanese consulate called while we were walking as he finalizes visa details. Ooof, too much for one day.

Insomnia, 14,500 steps, (had a phone call that I now have an appointment in Portland with a Neurology specialist! It will be in September, Ian will be in Japan at the time, feels so weird.)
  • Is the insomnia too much walking? I’ll take it easier. Slug proofed the front beds since they keep eating the seedlings. Used copper tape and Slug pellets.

Morning went with Jason out to do some photography. We drove to the wildlife lookout and then, not seeing many birds over to the Jetty at the mouth of the Columbia.

Cleaned the studio for almost 3 hours. 4,000 steps. Insomnia again!! omg. wtf? I take electrolyte and magnesium before bed, what’s causing this?? Look up, seems like that late night vitamin D / K is the culprit.
  • Today, 3 hours cleaning the studio again, now I’m up to the two book cases by the litter boxes. I have fixed a bike, moved a dresser, moved the drawing table, hung pictures, gone through boxes, dusted, dusted some more, made space for things, consolidated items like batteries and light bulbs, installed a door bell (that turned out to be handy)

This week I stopped eating ice cream, now I just enjoy heavy cream.

My ears keep ringing, it might be the aspartame I add to the cream, salt or glucose. My blood sugar is better this week but higher if I’m tired. Over all it dropped from fasting 130 to down around 116 now, and sometimes a comfortable 108, so the low carb is working okay.

I guess it’s age, I just do a lot better now very low carb and I realize that’s not going to change a bit and I better get a few recipes and ideas to drag Jason along with me.

I had a funny feeling this week as I sorted and cleaned and got things lined out, boxes I had not touched in six years since moving from Kalmia to Franklin Spider House and then here… All these art supplies, the many little things I have collected, they’ll all go to JJ someday. They’re all her supplies basically. So I thought maybe I should make sure they’re in good order. She’s getting a really good collection. Premium stuff I’ve collected over the years. And one very dated rug!

I forgot to put in this picture of my very outstanding Nasturtium!!! IT’s INCREDIBLE!!!!
