This week I made a Cyanotype for a show at the arboretum outside of Chicago. It was a lot of work, and I figured out how to mount rag on birch board – and where to buy and how to cut birch board. I’m sure I’m going to do more of this in the future. I had to get this in the mail Monday, but wasn’t ready until Tuesday – and then I had immediately get to work on the house because after decades – we’re getting a bit of new furniture.

I painted the den

Painting is expensive damn it. I thought I could get away with a single gallon, but it took two coats and two gallons, so over $100 in paint.

The remainder of the old closet was ripped out so I did repair work with quick dry plaster and then went to paint over it and realized the ceiling wasn’t painted in ceiling paint, so it stood out – had to repaint the entire ceiling then in ceiling paint, which I had on hand at least. But it took extra time, cleaning, emptying the room out which was packed with stuff, and painting the two coats – it took a long time. I probably put in 30 hours on getting the room prepped and I had help as hubby moved everything out of it and did the lifting.

Also having all my art supplies akimbo isn’t making life easier, all my print making stuff was everywhere. But – today it’s done, and I would have had a nice sleep in if my husband hadn’t decided to toss around a heavy wedge pillow at 4am next to my ear like a dummy. I startled awake so hard it was impossible to go back to sleep.

At this time of year I struggled with slow dry times too.

I painted the room green, some furniture for this room will arrive today making a cozy den for husband to work and for my sewing & bead work

Seizures are back

I wasn’t sleeping too well this week and had a really pretty bad one, for me – I mean, it wasn’t the end of the world or the worst that can happen, but I lost my vision for a bit. My eyes had the nystagmus effect of moving involuntarily like a type writer, they would go, right, right, right all the way back to the left and start again. For what seemed like ages I thought I might be stuck that way, I realized I must have had a seizure and the eye effect was still hanging around, I’ve had that happen before, come out of it and something is still kinda not right.

My joints are also really bad.

I’m getting knots the size of marbles in my fingers now. I have two specialists appointments but I can’t afford it, not really. I started on that glucosamine stuff for arthritis and it turns out I’m allergic to shellfish.

I am cutting out more foods, I enjoy an apple and pb occasionally and some cheese had snuck in but will cut it. I think it was exhaustion and maybe an infection or irritation somewhere which can cause me problems.

I’m really tired today, I really needed to sleep. I wish my husband hadn’t jolted me awake at 4am 🙁

Synesthesia

I knew I had some sort of Synesthesia with color but the Internet makes it sound so different from what I have like hearing numbers or idk – but when I see color it’s like a symphony, it pops off a thousand fireworks in my brain if it’s a nice color. Now lock me in a room with fluorescent lighting and a dull brown and I’ll get a migraine, get nauseated and hate life. I’m considering carrying around a small vile of brightly colored beads just to make me happy. Probably a side effect of epilepsy.
