This was a really cool market area – but chilly interior. I also went to Uwajimaya and their bookstore, I bought some cute socks with possums on them that say, “Hang in there”

Prices continue to rise but J did a side job and spent the money taking me into Portland to the markets. I bought a LOT of fun things. Too many food items, mostly for the kids and stuff – I love it when they get to try out all the different items. I got to eavesdrop on a conversation in Japanese and I understood it. I would have been absolutely out of luck saying anything, but I can understand basic conversations. It was so exciting in a really nerdy way 😀

We stopped by a plant shop on the way home and I bought an African Violet for my birthday. Most of my birthday present though was a trip into town to look around and be delighted by the Asian markets which I suppose if you’re Asian makes me very lame. It makes me so happy. I love Chinese New Year. I ordered a lot of decorations and am having a hot-pot party possibly… it depends, my GI hasn’t been too great. In town J and I split a pork bun and orange chicken from Uwajimaya. I played a lot of Pikmin and bought some adventure pack items before setting out so I could do a lot of mushroom battles and collect cool postcards for my friends.

I had a bike ride on a particularly nice day and then went out again after lunch and road. I can do that now! I don’t even have to pack water. I don’t have to worry about recovery. I don’t have to worry about being sick while on the trail. I can go for miles and not get tired (my bike is really easy to ride, but I was very much constrained before). So B12 and maybe the hormones are making an incredible difference. I could not do this before – ever since I moved here I have struggled with mobility. I road around 10 miles and I forgot about it the next day – which is incredible, I mean, usually I’m attempting to recover for days later and having to go, well I’m injured, sore and feel sick but at least I got outside!

I was riding and hear a helicopter. The trail spit me out where they were filming something for the Coast Guard. I did not get in the shot, although I suppose they may have filmed me from the air looking stupid. It was really exciting. I was really lucky to get to see that, what an awesome machine. I have so much awe and respect for our Coasties.

Health

I figured out, by accident I suppose, that the waves of pain in my feet and hands are a B12 deficiency. The only way possible for that to be the case is if I had low to no intrinsic factor being that I was carnivore for most of 11 months and ate a lot of beef and eggs. I have been supplementing every day with under the tongue tablets and I can walk at night now. I still have some stiffness and pain but it is about 70% better already. Also the brain noise and seizure symptoms are 50-80% better depending on the day.

I went to the doctor on Tuesday and found out the crux of my stomach pain issue is my gallbladder which has been full of pebbles for some time. It has inflamed and spread and was involving its neighbors resulting in gastritis. She said it may take some time to resolve.

I thought back to Dr. McDougall and his starch diet and low-fat. I’m not sold on Veganism. At all. However….in this instance, easy to digest, low in fat, anti-inflammatory is a must. I’m going low-fat with the McDougall concentration on starches.
